DR. RICHARD BLAZER, DVM

Co-Founder

Dr. Richard Blazer received his bachelor of Science degree in Zoology at Iowa State University in 1975. He went on to graduate from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. He was an associate veterinarian at Franklin Park Animal Hospital from 1981 to 1995. He then became the owner of Mannheim Veterinary Animal Hospital in Franklin Park, from 1996 to 2008, which was voted 1 of 23 Best Hospitals in Chicago Magazine 2009. Dr. Blazer Cofounded Northlake Animal Hospital with Dr. John VonBampus in 2009.

Dr. Blazer was commissioned into the United States Air Force Reserves in 2000 to 2008. He was a captain and public health officer of the 932nd Airlift Wing. He is presently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, The Illinois Veterinary Medical Association, World Wildlife Foundation (WWF),The American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), and The Humane Society of the United States.

Dr. Blazer has rescued and found homes for many pets. His most current bunch includes two pugs named Chewy and Rocky, and a chihuahua named Icky. he also has three cats named GusGus, Jelly, and Dodge.


DR. JOHN VONBAMPUS, DVM

Dr. John VonBampus received his Bachelor of science degree in Biology at Purdue University in 1987. He went on to graduate from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. He co-founded Northtlake Animal Hospital with Dr. Richard Blazer in 2009, after working as an associate at Mannheim veterinary Hospital for 10 years.

Dr. VonBampus is a compassionate doctor who enjoys helping both pets and their owners through difficult problems and returning them back to good health. His practice Philosophy focuses on client education as well as stressing the importance of prevention medical care for his patients.

Dr. VonBampus and his wife have two Beautiful daughters and a son. They also have two Chihuahuas named Skippy and Pepper and a cat, named Zoe. He also enjoys biking, water skiing, boating, watching movies and sports, and spending time with his family.


DR. MOLLY O’BRIEN

Dr. O’Brien grew up in Des Plaines and started working in the veterinary field in high school. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Illinois in 2002 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in 2006. She spent 6 years working at another hospital prior to joining Northlake Animal Hospital in 2013. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. O’Brien grew up in Des Plaines and started working in the veterinary field in high school. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Illinois in 2002 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in 2006. She spent 6 years working at another hospital prior to joining Northlake Animal Hospital in 2013. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Chicago Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. O’Brien enjoys getting to know her patients and their owners. She believes it is important to educate pet owners so that they can better understand their pet’s health and what to expect. Dr. O’Brien currently has a Welsh Terrier, Chewie, who she adopted in 2013. When not working, she enjoys traveling, going to concerts, and spending time with family.
